Heating Film for Spring
Author: Tóth Tamás · 3 min read
What determines the power of heating film we recommend? About sizing, the survey and the two most common ways of installation, in connection with our spring 2020 shipment.
We choose the power of the heating film according to the building's energy loss and the client's comfort needs: a well-insulated house needs a lower-power film, a building with greater heat loss a higher-power one. A wrongly chosen type can cause discomfort later, so before making a recommendation we survey the building and the investor's needs.
The spring 2020 shipment
In March 2020, preparing for the spring installation season, heating films of different power ratings arrived in our warehouse – the pictures below show this shipment. At that time we installed the film in two power ratings as standard:
- 110 W/m²
- 220 W/m²
The range has grown since then; we write about choosing the power in detail in a separate article.

How do we choose the right power?
Our infrared heating experts go through the building with a survey form: they examine its characteristics and map out what the investor expects from the heating. Besides warmth, comfort also matters – that the room is warm evenly and pleasantly. You can read about the course of the survey on our on-site survey and consultation page (available in Hungary).
Underfloor heating or ceiling heating?
The two most common forms of installing heating film:
- underfloor heating, built in under the floor covering,
- ceiling heating, in a suspended ceiling or behind plasterboard.
In special cases other solutions may also come into question, for example wall heating, but in practice these two are the most widespread.
Quality product, quality installation
Our company's mission: "To modernise society's heating habits so that people can heat healthily and economically". We have followed this since 2012, and the experience of more than 5,000 installations shows that it is not enough to supply a good product: professional installation is just as important, and together they make a satisfied customer.
The client's expectation is simple: the home should be warm, and run economically and comfortably. When the article was published in 2020, 3rd-generation intelligent heating film was our newest product. Today we install 4th-generation heating film; we give a 15.5-year warranty on 4th-generation heating film if we carry out the installation.
Insulation, solar panels, payback
As the regulations on building insulation become stricter, less and less heating energy has to be brought into a home being built now. With a low energy demand, the investment cost of the heating system weighs more, so it is worth also thinking about what the money saved can be spent on – for example a solar panel system. In a house with little heat loss, the heating's electricity demand is also moderate, so there is no need to plan an oversized solar system.
Whether a heat pump or infrared heating is more economical differs from building to building: the investment, running costs and maintenance together decide. We compare the numbers in our cost comparison.
