Newly Built Family House

Infrared heating film went into this well-insulated brick family house with 218 m² of living area, with 11.6 kW of installed output and smart home control. The owner had also considered a gas boiler, radiators and heating cable, and finally chose heating film on grounds of comfort and cost. The heating's electricity consumption is measured by a separate meter, and solar panels partly cover it.

How did the owner decide?

When choosing the heating, the client first thought of a gas boiler and radiators, and later heating film and heating cable also came into consideration. He compared all the variants from the point of view of both comfort and cost, and on that basis decided on infrared heating film. We wrote about choosing between the different types of electric underfloor heating in our article electric underfloor heating: film, mat or cable.

After two years of living there

When this article was published, the family of five was already in its second year in the house and is very satisfied with the heating. This is especially true of the wife, who feels the cold easily and values the warm interior highly. As the biggest advantage of the films, the owner highlights the low energy consumption, which is also partly covered by the solar panels on the roof. You can read about heating film and solar panels working together in our article on heating film and solar panels, and in general on the solar panel page.

Why is a separate electricity meter useful?

At the client's request we also installed a secondary electricity meter, so that the heating's electricity consumption can be measured exactly. That way the family can see, separately from the rest of the household's consumption, how much electricity the heating uses.
