Heating film electric underfloor heating was installed in a Dunakeszi family's new home. Why they chose it over a heat pump or gas, how the first heating season went, and how they control it room by room – with video.
We installed heating film electric underfloor heating in the new home of Kata and her family in Dunakeszi. After the first heating season they said they were not cold even in severe frost, the heating was even everywhere, and they are completely satisfied. In the video Kata herself tells why they chose electric heating, and why us instead of conventional underfloor heating.
Why did they choose electric underfloor heating?
The family built their home shortly before this article appeared (2018). According to Kata, it was important to choose electric heating: they did not want to depend on utility providers, and it leaves the option to combine it with solar panels later. The home got underfloor heating, which they describe as even and comfortable everywhere. In choosing the installer, reliability was the most important consideration.
During planning they also weighed other heating methods:
- Heat pump: according to the family's estimate at the time, in 2018, it would have cost at least 3-4 times more. Prices have changed since; for figures at today's prices, we calculated in the cost comparison of heat pumps and infrared heating.
- Gas heating: the family ruled it out at the start, because they feared breakdowns.
- Conventional wet underfloor heating: in the end they decided in favour of the heating film solution.
The experience after the first heating season
According to Kata, they were not cold even in severe frost, and the heating was even in every room. Based on their own consumption experience, the cost of heating was then favourable even compared with gas heating – this is one family's impression from 2018, and since then energy prices have changed, so today it is worth asking for a fresh calculation for a specific house. She recommends the solution to builders who plan solar panels, have no gas heating option, or simply want heating that works well.
Room-by-room control
The heating is controlled room by room by programmable thermostats. This way each room can be set to a temperature that suits its use, which further increases comfort. The underfloor heating temperature can also be controlled separately, so that the floor is as warm as the occupants want.
