Case study: heating built into the concrete layer under glued vinyl in a 123 m² holiday home, 6.6 kW output and wifi thermostats. Consumption measured on a separate meter stayed below the plan in the first season.
In this holiday home with 123 m² of living space, the heating was built into the concrete layer, with glued vinyl flooring above it. What surprised the owners most was the low electricity consumption: it is measured on a separate, secondary meter, and already in the first heating season it showed less than planned. The rooms are controlled one by one with wifi thermostats.

A different temperature in each room
The owners particularly highlight that they can control the rooms independently of each other: they keep a different temperature in the bedroom from the living room, where they spend the most time. They are very happy with the heating and have since gladly recommended it to others.
Measured consumption with a separate meter
In the house a secondary electricity meter measures the electricity use of the heating, so the owners can see exactly how much the heating consumes separately from the household's other consumers, and can compare the planned value directly with real consumption.
Data of the holiday home
- Living area: 123 m²
- Installed heating output: 6.6 kW
- Heat loss of the building: 45 W/m²
- Expected (planned) electricity consumption: 5,104 kWh
- Installation: in the concrete layer, under glued vinyl flooring
- Control: wifi thermostat, room by room
To interpret the data – what heat loss means, and why installed output is not the same as consumption – our New House reference helps; the factors influencing consumption are collected on the consumption page.
