Year-Round Comfortable Holidays with Heating Film

How to heat a holiday home, weekend house or forest cabin outside the season: heating film in the floor, infrared panels retrofitted to the wall, terrace heating outdoors - with remote control and frost protection.

Year-Round Comfortable Holidays with Heating Film

In a holiday home or weekend house, heating film and infrared panels are practical because they switch on quickly, need no boiler or pipe network, and heat only when the house is in use. Heating film built into the floor and an infrared panel mounted on the wall give comfortable warmth on cooler evenings and outside the season too.

A pleasant holiday needs a cosy, comfortable environment, and many people would like to enjoy the comfort of their holiday home all year round - in a small house in a wine region, a lakeside cottage or a forest log cabin as well. Our heating solutions help with this, provided the right product goes in the right place.

Three examples: which solution suits where?

The situations below are typical examples, not specific references. Our experience in a real holiday home heated with heating film is presented in our reference article.

A country house in the Tokaj wine region

Country houses are often cool, especially if they are not lived in for long periods. Heating film underfloor heating built into the floor gives a pleasantly warm floor, so even a suddenly chilly evening does not spoil the wine and dinner with friends. When this article was published, in 2023, we recommended 3rd-generation heating film for this; today we install 4th-generation heating film.

A lakeside holiday home at Lake Velence

A lakeside holiday home has its own charm in summer, but to make you want to come back at the end of the season too, it is worth keeping the favourite rooms warm with an infrared panel. The panel can be fitted afterwards, without demolition, to a wall or ceiling, so it can be quickly done in an existing holiday home. Cold weather then does not spoil the mood, and you can enjoy being close to the lake even in a winter landscape.

A forest cabin in the Mátra

In the forest, nights can be cool even in summer. With infrared underfloor heating built into the bedrooms, you can rest in pleasant warmth after long hikes. On a covered forest terrace, an infrared heater suitable for outdoor use can provide warmth - we write about terrace heating on a separate page.

What to watch out for in a holiday home?

  • Remote control: with a Wi-Fi thermostat the heating can be switched on from your phone before you arrive, and it runs only when needed.
  • Frost protection: if the house stands empty in winter, frost protection of the water pipes has to be arranged separately; a thermostat set to a low temperature can help with this.
  • Insulation: a poorly insulated wooden house or small cabin cools down quickly, so the heating output has to be sized to the heat loss of the house.
  • Outdoors: only a waterproof device rated for outdoor use may be used on a terrace.

With the right solution you need not say goodbye to comfortable holiday days at the end of the season either: Indian summer and the cooler months hold pleasant days off too.
