New Year, New Home. New Heating?

If the heating of your new home does not live up to your hopes, infrared heating can be a quickly installed alternative. We show how it heats, why installation is simple, and what to think through before switching.
If the heating of your new flat or house does not live up to your hopes in use, switching does not need a long mechanical conversion. Infrared heating needs no boiler, chimney, pipes or radiators: the heating film goes into the floor, wall or ceiling, and when this article was published in 2022 we built it in even in a flat of large floor area in at most one day.
New home, old heating?
The period between the two holidays is moving time for many: it feels good if the New Year's lentil soup and roast pork already land on the new dining table. Despite careful planning, however, in a new home too not everything always turns out as we dreamed.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating – with a heating system, too, it often becomes clear only in use whether it meets our ideas, especially if we did not choose it. In use you see how quickly the rooms warm up, what the quality and evenness of the warmth are, and how well the system follows the family's daily rhythm. If experience does not deliver what you expected, it is worth looking at which modern electric heating solutions may come into question – infrared heating is one of them.

How does infrared heating heat?
Infrared heating passes on heat with invisible infrared radiation. Unlike conventional heating methods that warm the air, it warms people, objects and walls directly, so warmth is felt within a few minutes and is distributed evenly in the room. There is no combustion or flue gas in the home; how environmentally gentle the heating is overall also depends on how the electricity used is produced.
Pleasant indoor climate
Because it passes on heat by radiation, infrared heating stirs up less dust than heating that circulates air, and does not dry out the air as much. This can also be favourable for families with small children and for residents sensitive to dust. We promise no healing effect; we write about questions on the electromagnetic field, based on our own measurement, on our electrosmog page.
Fast, simple, practical
- Quick installation: because of the installation time, building it in rarely holds up the move-in; we answer frequently asked questions on our FAQ page.
- Little material: no boiler, radiators or pipework, so installation is simpler.
- Free walls: without heaters and pipes, more room is left for furniture, and you do not have to compromise on furnishing.
- Several ways of installing: wall, ceiling or floor – in the floor with a layer structure suited to the covering material.
- Little maintenance: it has no moving parts or combustion, so no boiler service or chimney sweeping is needed; a system planned for the long term.
Before you switch
In an inhabited home, replacing the heating depends on the existing coverings: where you would not break up the floor, the ceiling or the wall can be the right place for the heating film. The required output is determined by the heat loss of the flat, and electric heating increases the flat's electrical power demand, so we suggest sizing before switching – our on-site survey and consultation page describes the process. The connection is made by a qualified electrician. If you have questions or would like a quote, you can reach us here (installation available in Hungary).
