Heating Film Experience After 4 Years – From the Owner of a Building Contractor

In 2020 Zsolt Mánya, managing director of MAVIT Building, said that over 4 years he had gained very good experience with heating film: he switched from gas heating to infrared heating because of easier installation, the system heats the building up quickly, is economical to run and gives comfortable warmth. Below we summarise his words, based on the video interview.

The experience of a building contractor

At the time of the statement MAVIT Building had been in construction contracting for 23 years: building and renovating family houses and public buildings. According to Zsolt Mánya, they started using infrared heating film 4 years earlier – the electric heating that can be built into the floor, a suspended ceiling and the wall, and can replace conventional heating such as gas.

The reason for the switch was easier installation. Infrared heating needs no chimney, gas plan, carbon monoxide detector, gas boiler, pipework or radiators, so in his experience the installation is simpler and the investment cost more favourable than with gas heating. Meanwhile it gives the home or family house a warmth in which residents feel good even in winter.

What do customers ask for?

According to Zsolt Mánya, customers generally want heating that is economical in the long term. Other common requests are that there should be no airborne dust and that the system should not be as slow and high-inertia as water-based underfloor heating. In his experience heating film answers these well: it does not stir up dust and heats the building up quickly.

In 2020 the company also used heating film in its own projects and helped customers with installation – in the floor, or hidden behind plasterboard in a suspended ceiling. As he put it at the end of the statement: over the past 4 years they had developed very good experience with this heating, because it is very comfortable.

What to watch for when planning heating film

A contractor's experience is a good starting point, but heating must always be sized for the specific building. You can read about the planning process on our on-site survey and consultation page, and about the installation steps in our article How we install heating film. The 2020 cooperation of the two companies is covered in Fűtőfólia and MAVIT Building cooperation.
