Don't Let Unpredictable Weather Catch You Out!

In spring, when warm days are followed by cool evenings, infrared heating is a convenient solution because it can be switched on without preparation on any day of the year, and radiant heat is felt within a short time. It can be controlled precisely with a thermostat, so even a short evening burst of heating does not make the home too warm, as can easily happen with a hard-to-control wood-fired boiler.

Spring weather often surprises: the temperature swing within a day can be as much as 20 degrees. Even if it is 25 degrees during the day, by evening the air can cool so much that you would gladly heat. The problem with a wood-fired boiler then is that it is hard to control: once lit, it easily gets too warm in the home. Gas heating is simpler to switch on and off, but at the time of writing, in 2023, because of rising gas prices many people put on another jumper rather than heat on a cool spring evening.

Flexible heating for cool evenings

Infrared heating suits the days when the weather turns back toward winter. There is no need for preparation, carrying in fuel or heating up the system: the heating can be switched on when it is needed, and switched off when it is no longer needed.

The explanation of the quick feeling of warmth is that the infrared radiation of the heating surface warms not the air but directly the body and the surrounding surfaces. That is why shortly after switching on we feel the room is more comfortable, even if the air is still cool.
