Padded Dog House Heater with Infrared Heating Film: For the Comfort of Pets

The padded dog house heater is a soft, fabric-covered bed with thin infrared heating film built into it. How is the heated bed built?

Inside the pad there is a flexible, film-like heating element, which gives off infrared heat when electric current passes through it. Infrared radiation - just as with infrared panels - does not primarily warm the air but the body that absorbs it: in this case the animal resting on the bed. The film is surrounded by padding and a fabric cover, so the heat is distributed evenly over the lying surface, and no particularly cold or overheating spots form.

• No moving parts: there is no fan to make noise or stir up dust, and maintenance needs are minimal.
• No open flame or glowing surface: the bed works at a low operating temperature, so it gives warmth without the risk of burns.
• It does not heat the air space: the warmth is felt on the bed; the air in the dog house does not warm up or dry out.

Use step by step

We place the bed in the dog house or in place of the usual resting spot, and connect its cable to a power source - that is the whole commissioning. There are still a few things worth watching:

• Use it with a thermostat. We recommend buying the pad together with a thermostat, even as a package. That way the temperature of the bed can be set, and the heating runs only as much as necessary.
• Protect the cable. Route the cable and the plug so that the animal cannot reach or chew it; the connection should go in a dry, protected place.
• Leave a choice. If there is room in the dog house, alongside the heated pad leave an unheated part where the dog can move if it is too warm.
• Check it from time to time. Check the cover and the cable regularly; do not continue to use the bed with a damaged cable.

How much energy does it use?

Because the warmth goes directly to the animal resting on the bed, and the whole air space of the dog house does not have to be heated, the heated pad gives noticeable warmth with little energy. The actual consumption depends on the set temperature and on how long it runs - the thermostat keeps this in check.
