Renovating a Family House

Case study: a renovated 141 m² family home where water-based underfloor heating would not fit, so heating film was used. 16.3 kW output, 80 W/m² heat loss, smart home app control.
In this renovated family house with 141 m² of living space, underfloor heating with heating film was installed, because the water-based underfloor heating the family had originally planned would not have fitted into several rooms because of the build-up height it requires. The installed output is 16.3 kW, and the heating is controlled by a smart home system.

Why not a water-based system?
The owners have small children, so they wanted underfloor heating from the start. The water-based version needs a thicker floor build-up, which could not be created in every room of the old house, so they looked for another solution and chose thin heating film.
After installation we found that the previously damp walls of the old house dried out. This is the experience of this particular building; what causes dampness in another house must be examined on site.
What do the owners say?
The family is happy with the heating. They highlight that it can easily be controlled with a phone app, each room can be set to its own temperature, and the floor temperature can also be adjusted. What they like best is that the children happily play on the warm floor.
